Furthering the inviting feel, natural stone forms the fireplace surround, creating a wall of texture that becomes the centerpiece of the family's gathering space. “We wanted the home to feel open and airy but also have a fair amount of texture and some rustic elements, including wood and stone,” McLaughlin says. Above the dining table, pendants catch the eye without interrupting the scenic vista."

Dezeen Jenna McKnight 05/10/2017 A lot in Aspen was divided in half to make way for this white, slender home by US studio Rowland + Broughton, which is meant to bring "a sense of clarity and elegance to a traditionally ornate Victorian form". Called Game On, the dwelling is located in the Colorado mountain town's historic West End neighborhood. The project resulted from the splitting of a large property that contains a multi-story home built in the 1890s.
